Frequently Asked Questions 

Is this outdoor rope armchair durable enough for the NZ coast? Yes. Our rope is high-grade polypropylene, and our frames are powder-coated aluminium. Our own 8-year experience with our original rope set has proven to us that outdoor rope stays looking new even after years of exposure to the NZ climate. 

Why is an aluminium frame better option than timber for this style of outdoor rope furniture? Aluminium is rust-proof and requires minimal maintenance, whereas timber needs regular care to prevent rotting or fading in NZ’s high UV. How do I clean the Agora® Panama cushions? Because the fabric is solution-dyed, the colour is part of the fibre itself, making it highly resistant to stains and fading. For general maintenance, a wipe with mild soap and water is often all that is required to keep them looking fresh. 

Can I leave this rope set outside all year? This is the number one question we are asked. The short answer is this: this furniture is sun and moisture-resistant and easy to clean. However, all outdoor environments have detritus (dirt, pollen, leaves, organic material). The more exposed/unsheltered your outdoor space, the more you need an off-season care plan. We sell fitted rain covers at sharp prices. We highly recommend them!
